REAGENT:
1.1 PREPARATION: Purified Myeloma protein is prepared from serum or urine (as appropriate) obtained from a suitable individual donor. It is purified by ion exchange chromatography, gel filtration and protein A affinity chromatography as appropriate. The purified protein is dialyzed into stabilizing buffer containing preservatives and 0.2m m filtered.
The isotype and light chain type of the Myeloma protein is determined by IEP. Purity is confirmed by the presence of a single arc when tested by IEP against the appropriate specific antibody and anti-whole serum, and by radial immunodiffusion.
The estimated concentration of an individual Myeloma protein may vary considerably depending on the assay method used. Myeloma protein concentration is therefore measured by radial immunodiffusion and optical density (A280nm) the concentration used being the lowest of these values.
1.2 FORM: Purified human Myeloma protein.
Protein Concentration: 1mg/mL (IgG, IgA, IgM proteins) 0.5mg/mL (IgD, IgE, free light chain proteins)
Buffer: Tris buffered saline pH 7.4
Preservatives: 0.1% Sodium Azide+ 0.1% E-amino-n-caproic acid + 0.01% benzamidine
CAUTION: This product contains 0.1% sodium azide as a preservative. Appropriate precautions should therefore be observed.
This product has been tested at serum donor level and found to be negative for hepatitis B surface antigen and antibodies to human immunodeficiency virus and hepatitis C. However, full safety precautions should be taken as in the handling of any potentially infective body fluid.
STORAGE AND STABILITY: Upon receipt this product should be stored at 2-8°C where it will remain stable until the given expiry date. Slight precipitation can occur on storage, which may be removed by centrifugation. This should not affect performance characteristics.
PRODUCT USE: This is a research use only product. In accordance with US regulations we are required to include the following statement:
Analyte Specific Reagent. Analytical and performance characteristics are not established. For research use only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.
