PREPARATION & PRESENTATION: Purified HBsAg is composed of small spherical particles and a few short filaments. There are no Dane particles detected by electron microscopy. The material does not contain viral particles.
STORAGE & STABILITY: The antigen is stable when stored properly. Please keep refrigerated (4 - 8° Celsius) at concentration supplied. DO NOT FREEZE.
Diluted samples especially at < 0.1 mg may loose antigenic potency after prolonged storage. Please use proper aliquots for immediate use when diluted samples are needed. The antigen is supplied at relatively high concentration for assured stability during storage. The antigen is suspended in 0.02 M Na phosphate containing 0.02%, pH 7.2 containing 0.02% sodium azide as a preservative.PURITY: >98% by SDS-PAGE

CAUTION: The purified material does not contain external impurities as measured by SDS-PAGE. The only detectable impurities are aggregates of serum albumin bound to the Pre-S receptors on the surface of HBsAg particles. In our experience this protein has a stabilizing effect on the HBsAg particles. As a precautionary measure the antigen is subjected to heat inactivation at 60° C for (8) hours in bulk before adjusting to final concentration. When stored properly the antigen retains its antigenic potency for as long as a five year period.
